Cookie notice

Every cookie this site can set, what it's for, how long it lives, and how to be rid of it.

Back to the games

1. What a cookie actually is

A small text file your browser stores when you visit a site, which that site can read back later. It's how a page remembers that you already dismissed the banner. Related technologies — local storage, and the service worker that makes push notifications possible — do similar jobs, and this notice covers those too.

2. Necessary — always on

Without these the site doesn't work properly. They don't track you between sites and they're not up for negotiation, which is why there's no toggle for them.

rqr-cookie-choice
Local storage. Remembers whether you accepted or declined, so the banner stops asking. Stays until you clear this site's data. Set by us; never leaves your browser.
Hosting & security
Session cookies set by our host to route requests and block abuse. Expire when you close the browser.

3. Analytics — only if you agree

These tell us which reviews get read and which get closed after four seconds. Aggregate numbers only; we're not trying to identify you, and we can't.

Purpose
Page views, referrer, rough region, device type. Used to decide what to write next.
Lifespan
Up to 13 months, then expired.
If you decline
Not set at all. The site behaves identically.

4. Advertising & marketing — only if you agree

This is the category that pays for the desk, and the one you should feel most free to decline.

Advertising partners
May set identifiers to measure whether a promotional placement was seen or clicked, and to limit how often the same ad appears. Typically up to 13 months.
OneSignal — push
If you subscribe and allow browser notifications, OneSignal stores a push identifier for your browser, plus the tags saved with your sign-up (the domain, and any name and phone number you chose to give). It's how the new-issue note reaches you. Lasts until you revoke the permission or unsubscribe.
OneSignalSDKWorker.js
A service worker file we host at the root of the site. It sits idle in your browser and only exists so a notification can be delivered when the tab is closed. Removing the site's data removes it.
If you decline
No advertising identifiers are set. You can still read everything, and you can still subscribe by email — push simply won't be offered.

What OneSignal does with that data on our behalf, and where, is set out in the privacy notice.

5. How your choice is recorded

The banner appears on your first visit. Accept all allows analytics and advertising; Necessary only declines both, and the site loses nothing that matters. Your answer goes into your own browser's local storage — not to our servers — and the banner stops asking.

Push notifications are separate and asked twice: once by our form's consent box, once by your browser's own prompt. Saying no to either means no push. Declining cookies does not unsubscribe you from the email, and unsubscribing from the email does not clear your cookies — they're different choices.

6. Changing your mind

  • This site: clear the site's data in your browser. The banner returns on the next visit and you can answer differently.
  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Site settings for a single site.
  • Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Push notifications: your browser's notification settings for ragequitratings.com — revoke there and it stops immediately.

Blocking all cookies everywhere will break far more useful sites than this one, so it's worth doing per-site.

7. Questions

Write to [email protected] and a person will answer within five business days. If a new partner ever adds a cookie, this page changes and the date at the top moves.

This version is effective from 12 July 2026.
